You’ve heard it before: Carmel Indiana has excellent schools. But if you’re planning a Carmel relocation, you might be wonder what it is, exactly, that makes Carmel schools so remarkable.

Carmel High School is a great example of the success of the entire Carmel Clay Schools district. For instance, during the 2009-2010 school year, 46 percent of Carmel High School students attended and passed an AP class.
the College Board named Carmel Clay Schools to its recent AP Achievement List for significant gains in AP access and student performance. Carmel Clay is one of just 388 school districts nationwide and one of nine in Indiana to receive the recognition for increasing access to AP courses for a broader number of students while also maintaining or improving the rate at which AP students earned scores of 3 or higher on an AP Exam.
During the 2009-2010 school year, 1095 Carmel Clay students were enrolled in at least one Advanced Placement (AP) course, with 1866 AP tests taken during the school year. This was a 9 percent increase in AP courses taken and a 12 percent increase in AP tests taken over the previous school year. Equally remarkable is that during the 2009-2010 school year, 46 percent of Carmel High School students attended and passed an AP class.
