on Sep 12th, 2011Fishers and Indy Named to List of Play ‘Full’ Communities
Looking for a Place to Play? You’ve Come to the Right Place!
When it’s time to get out and play, families in Fishers and Indianapolis have plenty of nearby options. And it’s not just residents who appreciate this dedication to play. Both cities were named a 2011 Playful City USA Community by KaBOOM!, a national program that advocates increased outdoor play opportunities for children.
Fishers furthered the KaBOOM! goal of providing a park or playground within walking distance for every child by recently opening two new playgrounds, one of which is a fully-accessible ADA playground at Brooks School Park.
Indianapolis was honored for its innovative plans to convert abandoned housing and vacant lots into urban mini parks, which supports the KaBOOM! initiative to increase quantity and quality of play in a community. Full KaBOOM! list of 2011 Playful City USA Communities
